Before beginning her graduate studies in Kinesiology at the University of Minnesota, you could count on one hand the number of yoga classes Chelsea had taken. However the stars aligned to allow the old adage “When the student is ready, the teacher appears” to come to fruition. A transformative yoga teacher happened to be working on the same research study as Chelsea and inspired her to explore the teachings of yoga through a three semester series of classes. These classes were taught in the Hatha tradition of yoga and allowed Chelsea to earn her 200 Hour RYT in the Spring of 2016. Chelsea furthered her yogic and life experiences by studying Yoga & Ayurveda in India for 3 weeks in January of 2016. The majority of this trip was spent at the Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama Ashram in Rishikesh where the Himalayan tradition of yoga was practiced. Chelsea makes good use of her education & experiences by working as a ACSM Certified Personal Trainer. She really enjoys finding ways for ALLpeople to be active despite the number of physical or mental challenges they may face. As part of her Master’s degree program she created a wheelchair boxing program for people with Multiple Sclerosis called “Rolling with the Punches.” What started as a six week program to fulfill graduation requirements, has continued for over a year and has brought incredible joy to Chelsea and participants alike. In addition to yoga Chelsea enjoys running, biking, playing tennis, and weightlifting. She also spends time each day being active with her dog Ernie, “the cutest German Shepard in the world.”
